Adaptive Toothpaste Dispenser
Project Overview
For many patients with limited mobility, significant autonomy is removed from their daily lives. Even tasks like dispensing toothpaste can become significant barriers and necessitate the help of an external party. Colgate and the Care Center for Persons with Disabilities are looking for solutions to help enable patients with limited mobility to independently conduct their hygiene routines. Solutions can involve adaptive tools in any one of the steps in a toothbrushing routine, but the director of the Care Center for Persons with Disabilities suggested using the concept of a dispenser.
A solution that could be effective, cheap, and marketable would be the development of an adaptive device that can be folded out of the cardboard packaging of a toothpaste tube. At this project’s conclusion, we will be able to test the device with real patient populations, as well as potentially pitch the product to Colgate through connections in Penn Dental.
